Hopefully a first in a long line...

Grandmother's Heirloom

I am so stoked! This is a reproduction of an heirloom. Sherry said that her grandmother made the original in the first year of her marriage. Sherry acquired it after her grandmother passed away. The original is over 60 years old and has only a tiny amount of damage. Sherry couldn't find a pattern so she could duplicate her grandmother's pattern, so I volunteered to see what I could come up with...

It took me 1-1/2 weeks to get the first 2/3 of the pattern written and to make this (complete) sample. The center is supposed to be a six inch circle of cloth and is made with a size 20 or 30 thread (either mercerized cotton or silk I think) and a size 10 to size 12 crochet hook.

I will be making the pattern again after I deliver the completed pattern to Sherry. My husband has said he will be keeping my sample as he thinks it's the cat's meow! LOL!!!

I will also be checking with Sherry to see if I can share this pattern with the world.

Pride of Ireland

The Pride of Ireland is the first knitted article I ever made. It is the project I chose to learn how to knit. I started the panels in June of 1984 and finished the afghan on December 24, 1984. I made it my goal to finish it before Christmas day! :D

I used virgin wool and (silly me!) have washed the afghan numerous times (blush). But!... I just took this photo to show how well it has survived the ravages of time and my stupidity!

Scored Stash!

I just love catching SALES!!!! This pile of love only set me back $28.50 plus tax. If I had paid full price, it would have cost $227.62 plus tax! (Happy DANCE!!!) I don't know what it will be but one day it will BECOME! :D

Ta for now!
